1.What
is the best digital image format and quality for fast transmission
and high-quality prints?
The Picture It! AGFAnet Print Service can process TIFF (not LZW compressed),
BMP and JPEG files. We recommend that you work with JPEG files whenever
possible, as these files are considerably smaller than TIFF and BMP
files. You should make sure to use a low compression rate (Photoshop
8–10, ACDSee 90–100) so that the quality of the images
is not reduced.
The quality of the digital image primarily depends on the resolution
at which it was scanned/photographed/created. A resolution of 200
dpi provides good to very good quality prints, which of course also
depends on the image itself. 300 dpi will yield excellent quality
prints. That means that you should work with a resolution between
200 dpi and 300 dpi.
You can use the following formula to determine whether the resolution
of your images is sufficient for the desired print format:
Print size [cm] / 2.54 * image resolution [dpi] = image format [pixels]
Example for a 10 x 15 print of a 300 dpi image:
10 / 2.54 * 300 = 1180
15 / 2.54 * 300 = 1770
The format of the image must be 1180 x 1770 pixels at 300 dpi to ensure
a high-quality print. BACK
2.What
file formats are supported by Picture It! AGFAnet Print Client?
Picture It! AGFAnet Print Client supports the image formats .jpg,
.bmp and .tif (not LZW compressed). We recommend that you only transmit
JPEG files, as these files - unlike TIFF files - have already been
compressed (the size of the file has been reduced by means of algorithms)
which reduces transmission times. BACK
